How to save money by planning a Staycation
The term “staycation” has been very popular in the news lately. Usually it is also mentioned in the breath as high gas prices. However, there are many other financial benefits to a staycation besides a reduction in gas costs associated with a trip. What are some of the other financial benefits of a staycation?
- You don’t have to worry about being crammed in a commuter aircraft
- You don’t have to endure a long wait at an airport to catch another flight
- You won’t worry if an airline cancels flights (unless you work at the airline!)
- No lost bags to worry about
- You can save money on a hotel by planning day trips
- If you don’t stay in a hotel on your staycation, you can plan on usually getting better rest (more relaxing!)
- Don’t have to worry about nosy hotel guests
- Save money on your meals by packing for the day in a cooler
- No rental car expenses
Obviously, there are many many other potential money saving ideas besides just fuel when planning a staycation. I’d love to hear how you have saved money on your summer staycation this year.
