What Is a Staycation?

A staycation is literally a vacation you take at home. A clever way of adding the word stay (as in stay-at-home) and vacation. The term staycation gained its popularity in the summer of 2008 during a period of dramatic gas price increases and higher travel costs. With a global economic crisis and record unemployment claims, it looks like staycations are going to be just as popular in 2009.

Can We Really Have as Much Fun Staying Home as We Would on a Vacation?

Yes. Think about it. While none of us can deny the beauty and excitement of a resort beach or a mountain getaway, a Staycation still offers many advantages that a vacation can’t. For instance:
